COURSE DESCRIPTION This course provides foundational education on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Topics include modes of transmission, infection control procedures, clinical management, prevention strategies, sanitary requirements, and professional behavior. Emphasis is placed on universal precautions, proper handling of tools and instruments, and maintaining a safe, non-discriminatory environment. LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: Define HIV and AIDS. Identify modes of HIV transmission. Explain infection control procedures. Describe proper sanitary practices for tools and equipment. Recognize appropriate professional conduct and attitude toward clients. Identify steps to take following potential occupational exposure.
